Single Trails

Single trails will give you the thrill

Singltrails im Ötztal - Sölden Tirol

The network of fantastic single trails has been extended in the Ötztal – especially in the surroundings of Sölden. One thing is for sure: the Ötztal ranks among the undisputed Hot Spots in the Alps for all-mountain bikers and enduro bikers. The area's challenging single trails attract top riders to the high Alpine regions beyond 3000 meters, embedded in the stunning scenery of the Ötztal Alps.

Additionally, the valley's summer mountain lifts came up with made to measure packages for all-mountain bikers. Bicycle transport is available in the following holiday resorts: Hochoetz, Gaislachkogl in Sölden, Hohe Mut and Wurmkogel in Obergurgl/Hochgurgl.

The panorama trail in Hochsölden is an absolute must for single trail aficionados. All-mountain riders can indulge in no less than 5 kilometers of the Alps' finest single trails on a total distance of some 25 kilometers.

Uninterrupted views of the upper Ötztal and nice rest stops included.
All those who want to improve their mountain bike skills before heading towards the single trails, get together at the Sölden practicing area that features a pump track – 100 meters longer than last year. Another practicing course can be found in Oetz, a perfect spot to get used to the highly demanding Alpine terrain.

E-Bike & Hike

A new trend: E-Hiking

E-Biken im Ötztal Tirol Österreich

The Ötztal has always been a trendsetter for e-biking holidays to suit all ages and preferences. Superb nature exploration on electric bicycles is available throughout the valley thanks to standardized bicycle models and the same technical basics. Therefore e-bikers find a number of specialized e-bike and battery change stations between Oetz and Obergurgl.

E-hiking makes a fine combination of cycling pleasures on electric bicycles and Alpine hiking. E-hiking is very simple: after renting an e-bike at one of the valley's sport shops you pedal uphill on broad forest roads with electric support until you reach Ötztal's quaint mountain huts. Here you leave your bike and get ready for exploring the higher regions of the Ötztal Alps on foot. What's best, peak conquests are possible without long and exhausting ascents and - at the end of the tour - you quickly return down to the valley on your e-bike.

This new e-hike concept requires a high level of organization throughout the Ötztal Valley. Primarily the e-bike rental stations – especially in Umhausen and Längenfeld – have been optimized. Every single e-bike was equipped with a bicycle lock. On the mountain huts separate bicycle storage rooms or areas have been installed, where hikers can leave their bicycle during the ascent to the peak.

Road Cycling Highlights

Ötztaler Radmarathon

Talking about the Ötztal, passionate road cyclists only have one thing in mind: Ötztaler Cycle Marathon – the Alps' most challenging race has already become a myth. 450 cyclists, 238 kilometers, 5500 meters of altitude gain! A cyclist's dream and nightmare at the same time.

But besides that, what are the main reasons for participating in the "Ötztaler"? Some say it's an experience of a lifetime, others talk about a mythic race. Chairman Ernst Lorenzi explains: "The race course and the extremely beautiful landscape add to a very special experience. The yearly surveys show that the cyclists also appreciate the great enthusiasm and atmosphere from start to finish. Everyone participating in the "Ötztaler" feels like a winner, even the very last one who reaches the finish line!"

Also known as Ötztal's Glacier Road, cyclists can reach Tirol's highest point accessible on two wheels.
